Deep clearance at Express: Purple jeans!
When I was 9, I had jeans in every single color, and I used to match them to my epic Cosby sweater collection. One such sweater had a woven row of Crayola crayons dancing across the chest. This sweater was ZEE BEST sweater, because it also matched every single pair of colored jeans I had that year. Close your eyes, if you will, and just try to imagine the swagger of a young lady about three feet tall, wearing orange denim, a Crayola crew-neck sweater, a boys' bowl cut and some glasses that took up half her face.
Now open your eyes and drink me in 20 years later. Not much has changed.
I'm in love with my new purple skinny jeans from Express, picked up last weekend. We obviously have Express on the brain, as Keyonna just issued the great Body Mullet Challenge involving their shorts. When it rains, it pours. These pants were something like $30, and I just bought the one color because I am no longer 9 and have bills to pay. I love them so much, though, I want to go back and get some others. I paired them with a black blazer and these 80's-inspired Bette-Midler-in-Big-Business shoes this week. They were comfortable and held their shape all day, and the color was a big mood booster around 4 p.m. when the coffee left my pores like an angel returned to the skies.
I looked around online and can't find the exact jeans to link, (here's one that's similar, but not on sale), but if you can get over to Express this weekend you might still be able to snag a pair or two. The store is having its semi-annual sale, and today, Saturday and Sunday you can take an extra 40 percent off clearance, which means I may very well be heading straight back to the fourth grade if the selection is there. I think I'm done with the bowl cut, though. Maybe.
