Seeking sporty summer sneakers
The season's low-top sneaker craze seems ideal for finishing off casual looks for picnics, a day at the ol' ballfield, pedaling to the farmers market and other outdoor activities. Good news: There are affordable options.
You could go classic with Chuck Taylor Allstars ($50) and the many shades of Keds (red polka dots, teal, $40). Or you could do a cheap turn on the cream crocheted look from Payless ($16.99). During my reporting, I could not help but notice this not-so-cheap but oh-so-cute option from Kate Spade for Keds ($75). I also like these floral Bobs from Skechers ($46) and the grey starry Roxy sneaks at DSW ($36.95).
Speaking of Bobs (really, Skechers?), there are tons of options from Toms, the company that gives away a pair of shoes for each pair it sells (plus water and glasses now) and, in my mind, popularized the breezy loafer look.
