FIRST FRIDAY: GULFPORT ART & GALLERY WALK
Are you, like us, sick of flowers and instead looking for a unique gift that mom won’t expect to unwrap this Mother’s Day? Gulfport’s got your back. Stop by the First Friday Art & Gallery Walk this week to find a plethora of unique items such as — deep breath — fiber art, upcycled metal and laser cut lighting, laser-cut area maps, wood crafts, leather purses, sculptures, handmade clothing and accessories, painted glass, aromatherapy candles, watercolors, acrylics and oils, jewelry, upcycled treasures, body products and more. But if your mom’s more into doing than receiving, bring her with you to see “JITT Flip,” Gulfport Neighbors’ version of the HGTV show Flea Market Flip. Contestants have been working on upcycling Junk in the Trunk treasures since April and will unveil and sell their final products at Art Walk on Friday. The seller who earns the most generous donation wins. The event will also include drink deals and music at several venues throughout the waterfront district. Be sure to wear comfy shoes (like the ones Stephanie recommends  at right) because Art Walk spans six city blocks that include more than 35 unique and locally owned businesses, 6-10 p.m. Friday at 3101 Beach Blvd. S, Gulfport. Free. (727) 322-5217. visitgulfportflorida.com.

Style Co., which will host a trunk show featuring Judith Leiber’s spring handbag line. Enjoy light bites and beverages plus gifts with purchase throughout the evening as you bask in the slammin’ sounds of DJ Fresh 6-9 p.m. Friday at Jackie Z, 173 Second Ave. N, St. Petersburg. Free.
