FUZZY VALENTINE: PAMPERED PUPS
Valentine’s Day is a holiday made for cherishing our greatest loves, those who adore us unconditionally, make us laugh and smile and never ask for much in return. Let’s be real: We might as well call it Dogs Day. Celebrate your beloved with Downtown Dogs in Hyde Park Village on Valentine’s Day. Spoil your favorite furball with pupcakes and treats while kids sip pink Puppy Punch and create Valentine’s Day animal cards and crafts using adorable Paper Source products. Don’t have a fuzzy Valentine? The Humane Society of Tampa Bay will be on hand, just in case you’re ready to fall in love with your new best friend. Noon to 2 p.m. Sunday. 1631 W Snow Circle, Tampa. (813) 250-3647. hydeparkvillage.com

LOCAL LOVE: DINNER AND A SHOP
Looking for an unconventional date night? The St. Pete Indie Market is popping up this weekend on the rooftop terrace of Station House St. Pete. Find sweets for your sweetheart from Pinellas Chocolate Company. Miss Johnny Squirrel by Yuki Osada is boasting adorable minimalist love notes. And Stoned and Charming is a go-to for jewelry. Those are just three of the 15-plus local vendors that you’ll find up on the roof, along with a pop-up bar and DJ set by the boys of Jensen Serf Company. The cherry on top: Shoppers will receive a coupon for a special discount at the restaurant. It’s happening from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday on the fourth floor of 260 First Ave. S, St. Petersburg. stpeteindiemarket.com

IT TAKES TWO: SUNDIAL TANGO
Partnerless this Valentine’s Day? No matter. You can come on your own or as a pair to Tango With Love at Sundial St. Pete where you’ll have the chance to immerse yourself in the dance of love. St. Pete Tango is providing free classes with master teachers, performances by the bay area’s best tangueros and Argentine tango social dancing open to everyone, all set to the beats of Miami DJ Mariano Bejarano. “Feel the Love” gift drawings will be held at the top of every hour, and participating stores are offering special discounts. And did we mention the wine tasting? Crucial for getting yourself into the spirit of the dance from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Free. Sundial, 153 Second Ave. N, St. Petersburg. Toll-free 1-800-349-0885. stpetetango.com

TREAT YOSELF: BEAUTY BASH
Show yourself a little love this holiday or prep for you romantic night out during BoTiki’s Pre-Valentine’s Beauty Party. The sale, sip and shop will feature consultations, presentations and free samples and services from makeup artist Rita Obrochta, henna tattoo artist Marsha Zigmund, Younique beauty representative Melissa Selner, Rose Frizzle from Damsel in Defense, and a massage therapist and nail pro courtesy of Maddy’s Spa. As with most BoTiki events, the beach boutique will serve BoTiki-tinis, wine, beer, light hors d’oeuvres and, in keeping with the Valentine’s spirit, chocolates. Shoppers can expect raffles, the chance to win a $100 shopping spree and 25 percent off all red items in the store. ITEM OF THE WEEK: WOODEN WONDERS
Well, now I want to wear a bow tie. Every. Single. Day. It's all thanks to Ella Bing, a bay area company that handcrafts wooden bow ties, lapel flowers and sunglasses, perfect for special occasions or any day you want to brag on your accessories around the water cooler. Ella Bing was created in summer 2012 in honor of Matt Kraus, a confident man of dapper style who was completely obsessed with bow ties. The goal was to bring together Matt's family in the wake of his unexpected death. Using their unique skills, the family created the Ella Bing line of accessories. None of their items are mass-produced, each is limited-edition, and 10 percent of every sale is donated to the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. Ella Bing also offers leather belts, pocket squares and other accessories, but it's their line of wooden bow ties, lapel flowers and sunglasses that are truly unforgettable. You can find them at ellabing.com, where you'll receive free shipping on orders of $125 or more.
