Coveted Guard Jai Lucas Commits to Florida

Jai Lucas, the Houston Texas Bellaire four-star point guard who was one of the most sought-after guards in the nation, has decided to play for Florida.

"I'm going to Florida," Lucas told Rivals.com just prior to his press conference Monday afternoon at his high school. "It's a great opportunity to play right away with the players the players they lost. And I like the players that I'm coming in with. There is a lot of talent."

Lucas, the son of former NBA player and coach John Lucas, is the No. 42 ranked prospect in the Rivals150 and averaged 26.3 points and 7.5 assists per game during his senior season. He joins a Florida recruiting class which is presently the No. 5 recruiting class for 2007.

Lucas also seriously considered Kentucky. With the departure of former guard Taurean Green, Lucas has an opportunity to come in and make an immediate impact.
