Fayson leaves the program

GAINESVILLE - Running back/receiver Jarred Fayson has asked for permission to transfer, and it has been granted by the Florida coaching staff.

According to those close to the situation, Fayson's release will not allow him to transfer to any school in Florida.

A former star quarterback at Hillsborough High, Fayson has been contemplating his future with the Gators for some time.  He has acknowledged he thought of leaving after playing sparingly last season, but said former receiver Dallas Baker convinced him to stick around, promising him that with hard work and patience, his time would come.
He has played in all 11 games this season with 19 rushes for 89 yards. He also had 12 receptions for 148 yards, including a long of 30 yards.

But he did not play at all in Saturday’s win over Florida State.

Fayson is among two area players who have left the team this week. Tight end Trent Pupello has also decided to transfer. He did not see action in any games in two seasons.
