Eric Rutledge to miss Capital One Bowl
Senior starting fullback Eric Rutledge will not play when the Gators face Michigan on Jan. 1 in the Capital One Bowl.
The absence of Rutledge could be a serious blow to the Gators' run-blocking. The Gainesville native and former P.K. Yonge player, did not have any carries during the regular season, but is considered the Gators' top lead blocker.
School officials said Rutledge did not meet certain standards and criteria players are expected to adhere to.
Rutledge switched from linebacker to fullback in 2005 and has seen action in 36 games. His career has effectively ended because he is a senior.
