Stamper injured in dual role
Linebacker Ryan Stamper was injured over the weekend as he prepared to play dual positions for the bowl game.
With the suspension of senior halfback Eric Rutledge, the Gators will rely on freshman tight end Aaron Hernandez, but still need a blocking back, which was Rutledge’s specialty. Stamper said he primarily was participating on inside drills, working at fullback.
“I hurt my ankle Saturday doing inside drills when they moved me to fullback,’’ Stamper said. “I came in on a block and a lineman just fell on it. I’ve been through treatment every day since then.’’
Stamper was wearing a boot on Monday, but said he could return to practice as early as Tuesday.
