Jai Lucas to transfer to Texas
Former starting guard Jai Lucas, who abruptly left the team last month, has decided to transfer to Texas.
Lucas started all 36 games for the Gators as a freshman last season, but quit the team after its first exhibition game in November. He said at the time he wanted to look for a place he felt suited his game better than Florida's current system. In other words, he wanted to play point guard instead of shooting guard.
Lucas averaged 8.5 points per game with the Gators.
"Texas has always been my dream school,'' Lucas said. "I always wanted to go there. I hope I can come in and contribute and be a part of something big."
