Percy Harvin upgraded to probable for BCS title game
Florida coach Urban Meyer said Tuesday afternoon that WR/RB Percy Harvin is "probable'' for the BCS national championship game against Oklahoma on Jan. 8.
Harvin suffered a high ankle sprain in the Nov. 29 game at Florida State, and did not play in the SEC Championship game.
"Percy ran today and caught passes,'' Meyer said after Tuesday's practice. "He did not practice with the team, but he was on his own. He did do walk-throughs and then probably a good hour of running routes. I'm saying he's probable for the game.''
Harvin remained in Gainesville during the Christmas holiday break to put in extra work with the UF training staff in an effort to be able to play in the game.
"I think he's a little ahead of schedule,'' Meyer said. "They (trainers) have done a tremendous job. I'm not sure I've seen a guy do what he's done as far as commitment. I'm giving the guys the day off tomorrow, and I grabbed him and he said I'm not going anywhere. He's as competitive a guy as I've ever been around and it's showing up right now.''
