Gators tie Vanderbilt with record 37 football players on SEC academic honor roll
Florida and Vanderbilt each had a league-high 37 football players on the winter SEC Academic Honor roll, surpassing Florida's previous high of 26 in 2004, the league office announced today. In all, 53 UF athletes were named to the honor roll including three students with 4.0 GPA's: Kelsey Bowers (volleyball), Robert Kane (football) and Megan Kerns (soccer).
The 2008-09 SEC winter Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2008 spring, summer and fall terms. To be recognized, each student-athlete must have a GPA of 3.00 for either the preceding academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above; be on scholarship, a letterwinner or have participated on a varsity team
for two years if non-scholarship; have completed 24 semester hours of
non-remedial credit and have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA championship segment.
