Miami relaxes SEC transfer restrictions on Marve, but he still can't go to UF, Tenn. or LS

The University of Miami has relaxed its transfer restrictions on
former Plant quarterback Robert Marve, now allowing him to transfer to
nine of the 12 SEC schools, his high school coach told the Times.

Plant coach Robert Weiner confirmed Friday evening that Marve, who
started 11 of 13 games for Miami as a redshirt freshman last year, will
be able to transfer to all SEC schools with the exception of Florida,
LSU and Tennessee.

"It's a breakthrough in the terms that hopefully both sides can come
closer to an agreement for the benefit of the kid," Weiner said.

Initially, Miami restricted Marve from transferring to school in the ACC, SEC and any other Division I school in Florida.

Earlier in the day, Marve's father, former NFL player Eugene Marve, told the Miami Herald that he is being treated for prostate cancer, citing his illness as one of the reasons he wants his son to stay nearby.
