Teams try to stay balanced in the land of sun and fun

Attempts by coaches and players to avoid distractions are a big focus with the long layoffs before Thursday's BCS National Championship Game.

Temptation is even closer for Oklahoma, whose team hotel is on hotspot South Beach.

Sooners quarterback Sam Bradford admitted the difficulty of staying focused while enjoying the experience.

"It's definitely important to have a little bit of fun," Bradford said. "If it was a complete week of a business trip, and you tried to focus 100 percent on the game every day, you'd burn yourself out before you played in the game. I think we've gotta find a balance of having fun, but at the same time being focused on what we came here to do.

Meanwhile, the Gators are in a less trendy part of Miami Beach, but the lure of fun in the sun remains.

"Coach Meyer is really good about keeping us focused,'' RB Emmanuel Moody said.''He always tells us even though we're in Miami, this is a business trip. Let's not forget about that.''
