Meyer: Tebow's speech worthy of being forever recognized
Tim Tebow's speech following the Ole Miss game may forever be part of Florida folklore with the permanent plaque outside of the Heavener Football Facility, but Tebow isn't as impressed as the legions of fans who continue to stop by daily to see it for themselves.
"I don't know, I guess it's cool to have something you said up there,'' Tebow said following Wednesday's first spring practice game. "It means a lot to some people so I think that's cool.''
It was Florida coach Urban Meyer's idea to have the words put on a plaque and placed on a brick wall outside the facility on the UF campus. Meyer said the speech is an important part of the history of the 2008 team and he didn't see the need to wait until Tebow's career is over.
"I’m not interested in 10 years from now because who knows where or if I’m going to be toes up somewhere?,'' Meyer said. "I’m not a big fan of 'Hey, let’s wait down the road. And I think it was a speech that Gator Nation has a right to see on the side of the building.''

Believe it or not, Tebow hasn't seen the plaque yet. When asked why, he said, "I don't know. I've just been busy.''
Tebow said ultimately the plaque is an honor for the entire team.
"I guess it's nice because it's the university honoring our team and what we accomplished and what that represents and all the work that we put in,'' he said. "Not just really how I said it, but what happened afterwards.''
