UF basketball could play Notre Dame in Tampa

For Florida fans who enjoyed seeing their basketball team in St. Pete Times Forum for the SEC Tournament, the Gators could be back in Tampa sooner than you think.

ESPN Regional is considering playing a Big East/SEC Invitational doubleheader at St. Pete Times Forum in mid-December, with the headline matchup being Florida vs. Notre Dame. Nothing has been finalized, but it would be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

This is the third year of a four-year series between the two conferences. USF played in last year's event, losing to Vanderbilt in Nashville, so the Bulls wouldn't be part of the Tampa doubleheader.
