It was the No. 1 Florida men's track and field team that entered last weekend's SEC Track and Field championships as the favorite, but when it was all over, it was the Gator women's team that walked away with the title.

The unranked Florida women's team scored 135.5 points to knock off No. 4 LSU (113) and No. 12 Tennessee (106) and earn its first conference championship since 2003.

Arkansas won the men's title with 141 points, followed by the Gator men's team, which finished second with 129 points. LSU was third with 98.50.

“It is a wonderful feeling to win in front of our home fans, with everybody that has supported us all year long,” UF head coach Mike Holloway said. “It was a great team effort all the way around. I’m very proud of both teams this weekend. They lined up and got after it.''

In total, the Florida men’s and women’s teams won nine individual SEC championships during the course of the weekend, claiming league crowns in: men’s decathlon, women’s steeplechase, women’s long jump, women’s triple jump, women’s javelin, women’s shot put, men’s 4x100-meter relay, men’s 200-meter dash and the men’s 400-meter dash.

Junior sprinter Jeremy Hall ran the ninth-fastest men’s 200-meter dash time in school history, clocking a personal-best time of 20.51 (-1.1) to win the event.
