Chris Rainey misses Saturday's practice; Jeff Demps most likely to start
Florida running back Chris Rainey did not practice on Saturday, nursing a shoulder injury, and UF coach Urban Meyer said sophomore Jeff Demps is the most likely starter right now.
"Rainey did not go full speed today, he has a sore shoulder, but he's fine he's practiced every day,'' Meyer said. "I'll announce starters sometime next week, but as of now, Demps is a little bit ahead just because he goes everyday and he's very dependable. And very talented as well.''
Meyer said Emmanuel Moody has practiced hard after missing a week of preseason practice, and will also be a vital part of the running back rotation.
INJURY UPDATE: Lerentee McCray is in a cast with a broken bone in his hand. "He's got a big club on, but he goes as hard as he can,'' Meyer said.
Brandon Hicks (ankle) did not practice, but could return Monday or Tuesday. And Lawrence Marsh has a sprained ankle and also may return Monday or Tuesday. Jelani Jenkins is still nursing an ankle injury, and isn't expected to return until at least later in the week.
