Florida cornerback Joe Haden happy to be back on offense even if it's temporary
When he first arrived at Florida after finishing his career as a record-setting quarterback in Maryland, CB Joe Haden had a few aspirations of possibly trying his hand at QB for UF.
Then he got a glimpse of Tim Tebow.
"It was a little piece of the plan, but then when I got here and looked at Tebow (that thought) went away,'' Haden said.
In two years, he's honed his skills well enough to become a preseason All-SEC CB, but it's possible
Haden may see some action on offense in a wildcat formation for the Gators.
"I'm real excited about that,'' Haden said. "I've always told coach Meyer that I wanted to get back on that side, even if it was two plays or something like that. He's had me working with the quarterback coach after practice, just working on some little stuff like that.''
Haden spent the summer working with Tebow and backup QB John Brantley and said he knows about nine offensive plays. Haden wants to make one thing clear: he's not just some gimmick. He can actually play the position - well.
"Even before two-a-days practice started, I was out there throwing the ball with Tebow, Brantley and throwing to the receivers, so I feel comfortable because I've been warming it back up,'' he said. "I used to really play quarterback. So it's not like I'm a defensive back trying to play quarterback, I can really play quarterback.''
