Lutz's Calvin Smith part of UF's No. 1 relay team

Florida junior Calvin Smith is part of the Gators' relay team that placed first in the Track & Field News 53rd Annual Relay Rankings.

The Gators’ 2009 season included an NCAA Outdoor Championship in the men’s 4x100-meter relay. It marks Florida’s first time in the relay rankings since the 2005 season.

The Florida men’s 4x100-meter relay team posted the nation’s fastest time (38.57) in the preliminaries of the NCAA Outdoor Championships and went on to win the program’s first national title in that event since 2004 in a time of 38.58. The relay team consisted of Smith, Dennis Martin, Terrell Wilks and Jeremy Hall.
