Florida RB Chris Rainey practiced on Tuesday and has been upgraded to probable for Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt. Rainey injured his left shoulder in the Georgia game, and had been listed as doubtful. 

“I think he's going to play,’’ UF coach Urban Meyer said. “It was very impressive that he came out and practiced.

Freshman RB and kickoff team member Mike Gillislee (hamstring) also practiced and could play.

Vanderbilt will travel to Gainesville on Saturday without its starting quarterback Larry Smith, who will miss the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury, but Meyer said that won't cause the Gators to make huge changes in their defensive gameplan.Senior MacKenzi Adams will take over the starting job.

“He (Smith) was a tremendous athlete, that’s a tough injury,’’ Meyer said. “Coach Carter (Kenny,  RB coach) was there with  ( Adams).  We’ve played against him before and he’s a very good athlete. I don’t think we’ll change our defense.’’

REED STILL A QB: Freshman quarterback Jordan Reed continues to get practice time at TE, but Meyer said no decision has been made of making a permanent position change.

“He’s playing quarterback right now for us, he’s doing a little bit of both,’’ Meyer said. “No decision has been made yet.’’
