Tim Tebow to play final SEC regular season game against coach he grew up admiring

SpurrierS0601 Florida quarterback Tim Tebow recognizes the irony in playing his final regular season SEC game against Steve Spurrier, the man who led the Florida teams he grew up admiring.

Tebow and Spurrier are both Heisman Trophy winners for the Gators, which carries a special kinship, Tebow said.

"I think there's some sort of kind of special relationship there,'' Tebow said. "We don't talk. We'll say hey after the game and we've talked a few times at the Heisman. And we have a little bit of a relationship like that. We have a lot of respect for each other. There's something that's cool about what we've done and our relationship.''

Tebow said it's almost fitting that he'll close out his SEC career against a man he considers a legend.

"That's just the way it worked out, I think it's cool,'' he said. "It's the last SEC game and it's versus coach Spurrier who has done so much for the SEC. He changed the SEC in a lot of different ways, especially early on in the 90's. And what he's done for the SEC and college football in general, it's really cool. Any time you go against a coach like that, it's going to be special. I think the circumstance will make it that much more special.''
