Urban Meyer, Gators say there's no dissension among players
Florida coach Urban Meyer said Sunday that reports there's dissension among the Gator players is untrue, and Florida has no inner turmoil on the team.
Meyer also denied reports of an altercation between Florida QB Tim Tebow and LB Brandon Spikes following the win over Mississippi State, and said there was no "finger pointing" speech to the team after the game.
"First of all there's no finger pointing speech and there's no altercation,'' Meyer said. I'm not sure where you are gathering your information. There is no finger pointing speech whatsoever. There was a very positive speech about staying focused on facing a great team with great talent and there's no finger pointing speech. After the Mississippi State game there was a very passionate locker room about how we can play better but there was no altercation whatsoever.''
Spikes said after Saturday's 41-17 win over Georgia that the team's senior leaders met with the team last week to take control and get everyone back on the same page.
"I think we're a good strong team of guys, full of seniors,'' he said. "We kind of know what
it takes. Me, Tebow, we get on guys and hold them accountable, let them know what's your value to the team. Things weren't getting done the way we expect and we had a team meeting and maybe stepped on a few toes, but in the end it just kind of brought us all together.''
The Gators, who remained No. 1 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, will host Vanderbilt Saturday night.
