The Willie Taggart-Florida State rumors are heating up

Update, 6:45: If you're trying to connect the dots that might send Willie Taggart to Tallahassee, here's another.

After reportedly meeting with FSU on Monday, Taggart scrapped a recruiting visit with four-star receiver Miles Battle, according to 247Sports.

Meanwhile, it sounds as if Oregon is starting to lose its patience with Taggart, according to this column by The Oregonian's John Canzano. The piece sounds a lot like the last few days of the Jimbo Fisher era at Florida State. Whether it will end the same – with a coach bolting – remains to be seen.

The original story from earlier today is below.

The Willie Taggart-Florida State rumors are starting to gain traction.

Multiple credible sites, including Tomahawk Nation and ESPN, are reporting that the Oregon coach (and former USF coach) plans to meet with the Seminoles today.

The move makes sense; Taggart has seemed like the favorite to replace Jimbo Fisher since before Fisher even stepped down to take the Texas A&M job.

Taggart is an excellent recruiter who has turned around three programs: Western Kentucky, USF and Oregon. The 41-year-old Palmetto native obviously has strong ties to the state, which will help on the recruiting trail and booster circuit. If he's hired, the move would be well received in the Seminoles' locker room.

Taggart has deflected questions about his future with Oregon, which hasn't exactly ended the rumors. He was, however, recruiting for the Ducks today in Arizona.

Stay tuned.
