ACC, American Athletic Conference to meet in St. Petersburg Bowl
The ACC and American Athletic Conference will include the St. Petersburg Bowl in its bowl rotation this year, the game announced Wednesday afternoon.
The ACC has been in the bowl game at Tropicana Field once before, when North Carolina State topped UCF in 2014. This will be the third year in a row that the American Athletic Conference has participated.
"The first time we matched teams from these conferences in 2014 we had a terrific game that went down to the last possession," bowl executive director Brett Dulaney said in a statement. "Both conferences have excellent depth and we look forward to having the opportunity to host schools from these two well-respected conferences."
The game will kick off on Monday, Dec. 26 at 11 a.m. on ESPN. Tickets go on sale later this year.
Marshall and UConn played in the game last December.
The Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium will be on Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. on ABC.
