After deep postseason run, 2013 holds promise for Florida women's basketball

The Florida women's basketball had its season ended at Drexel in the WNIT Final Four, but the experience gained from making that deep postseason run may turn out to be invaluable, coach Amanda Butler said.

Butler said the Gator's postseason run, which included four road wins in the WNIT, bonded the team in a unique way and gave the Gators an extended season of opportunity she hopes will eventually make her young team better next season.

Florida had six freshmen and one senior on its roster.

"Our run, I was really, really proud of the way that we played," Butler said. "Those last few ballgames, there were a lot of really tough, gutsy wins. Unfortunately it seemed like we continued to get more unhealthy as we went along and continued to lose people. But still that made the wins that much sweeter, tougher and that much more rewarding. We really grew up a lot, and we saw some fantastic individual play."

More from Butler on what she envisions for next season.
