"It's an enormous honor to just be on the ballot when you think that more than 4.86 million people have played college football," NFF President & CEO Steven J. Hatchell said. "The Hall's requirement of being a First Team All-American creates a much smaller pool of only 1,900 individuals who are even eligible to be on the ballot, so being in today's group of 76 names means an individual is truly among the greatest to ever have played the game, and we are proud to announce their names today."  ... Gators' Preston Tucker sets school RBI record

Florida senior Preston Tucker became Florida’s career RBI leader on Saturday, breaking the recored previously held by former Gator Brad Wilkerson (1996-98).

Tucker hit a two-out solo homerun in the third inning to set the new school record.

“It means a lot,'' Tucker said about breaking the record. "It’s really cool since it was previously held by Brad Wilkerson who played in the Big Leagues for a ton of years. And, you know, it means a lot knowing that the guys in front of me have been on base a whole lot -- going back to Avery Barnes and Matt den Dekker too, and the guys hitting in front of me this year. We’ve had a great team through the last four years and it means a lot to me.”

Tucker, a former Tampa Plant standout, now has 215 RBI in 205 games. He was 2-for-4 in a 5-1 win over William & Mary on Saturday afternoon.

“It’s a little relief and felt good, especially since we were only up one at that point,'' Tucker said. "I got the record; it feels great and now I can just continue to have good at-bats.”
