Andre Debose to miss practice this week as Gators nurse numerous injuries
Florida's injury list remains extensive, and while some are improving, several others are currently questionable for next week's game against Georgia.
Freshman WR Andre Debose will miss practice this week in an effort to try and get him ready to play.
"He will not practice this week,'' UF coach Urban Meyer said. "We're doing everything we can to get him back next week. It was a rather severe ankle sprain but he's healing pretty well.''
Unfortunately for the Gators, Debose isn't their only concern.
Jaye Howard's (ankle) doing pretty good,'' Meyer said. "He's not practicing but it's all positive. Jelani (Jenkins) will be fine. He did not practice yesterday. I'm still not sure about today. We're real cautious about the concussions. Jeff Demps (sprained foot) had minimal practice yesterday. We're just being very cautious to get him back. Mike Gillislee was minimal. He still has that hamstring strain. (Emmanuel) Moody was minimal (quad strain). Jon Halapio's getting better. He's the one that had the surgery on the finger. I'm sure there's more that I'm not catching.''
Meyer said kicker Caleb Sturgis, who has missed three consecutive games with a back injury, may return sooner than expected.
"There's good news on Caleb Sturgis: he's progressing pretty good so I'll know early next week,'' Meyer said. "They're me Monday they can make a decision on that.''
Also former Armwood standout Matt Patchan continues to make progress. He has missed the entire season so far after suffering an wrist fracture during preseason camp.
"He's doing good,'' Meyer said. "They're telling me Monday is when they'll be able to give me the (prognosis). It's all strength now. The bone has healed. Now it's just getting him strong enough to play. He's a maniac so he's working has hard as he can.''
