Andre Debose's family to decide on course of treatment for his injury
Florida coach Urban Meyer is scheduled to meet with team physicians and the parents of freshman wide receiver Andre Debose tonight to determine further treatment for his serious hamstring injury.
UF staff spent the day consulting with other physicians and trainers with expertise on Debose's injury, which Meyer said doctors have told him is a rare injury to the hamstring that also involves the tendons. Meyer said doctors will make their recommendations, but a final decision will be up to the family.
“It’s not my call, it’s going to be whatever the team doctors say,’’ Meyer said. “It’s an unusual injury. They actually found someone (a physician) somewhere that has some more information. . . What doctors do is if they have experience with it, there’s no issue. If they don’t have experience, then they call around and talk to colleagues. He’s got one of those unusual ones that our training staff has not dealt with before.''
Debose is a highly-recruited receiver from Sanford Seminole whom Meyer had hoped would come in and see some early time at the position vacated by Percy Harvin.
Meyer said he's not ready to say whether Debose will be redshirted this season.
