Antwine out for the season with ACL
Redshirt sophomore DT Brandon Antwine, the player who spent several weeks in a wheelchair last season after a rare muscular disease killed a muscle in his lower back, will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL in his right knee.
Antwine was injured in last Saturday's game at Florida State.
“It’s just awful news,’’ UF coach Urban Meyer said. “If there’s a comeback player of the year, it’s him. His attitude is great. He’ll be with us next year, he’s still got two years. But that’s a damper for us. We all love that guy, he was playing well. Everything happens for a reason, my wife has told me that for a long time and I believe it. He’ll come back stronger than ever.’’
Lawrence Marsh, who has recovered from an MCL sprain, will step in, along with Terron Sanders, Torrey Davis and freshman Jay Howard.
Meanwhile, WR/RB Percy Harvin (sprained ankle) may participate in some drills on Thursday, Meyer said, but he continues to show progress.
