Brandon James undergoes foot surgery
Brandon James, the Gators' leading return specialist, underwent surgery Tuesday morning to repair a fracture in his right foot.
James had surgery to repair a fractured metatarsal bone in
his foot. He will be on crutches from six to eight weeks, which means he could miss part - or all - of spring practice, which begins March 25. He is expected to make a full recovery, UF doctors said.
James was the 2008 SEC Special Teams Player of the Year,
and ranks first on Florida's single-season (510 yards in 2008) and
career punt return yards' chart (1,127 yards).
He is tied for the school record for career punt returns for touchdowns with four, a total that ranks third all-time in the SEC. James is fifth all-time in SEC history in total kick return yards, including kickoffs and punt returns, with 3,089 yards. He played in all 14 games last season, including four starts at running back.
