Deadline looms for Spikes, Harvin
Florida WR/RB Percy Harvin and LB Brandon Spikes have until midnight tonight to declare whether they will enter the NFL draft or return next year for their senior season.
Although Harvin told Sun Sports on Sunday following the Gators' national championship celebration that he was leaning toward staying, several teammates said they don't expect Harvin to return. Harvin is a projected late first-round pick, and has been injury-prone through his career.
Spikes may be a different story. He told several players after the game he planned to returned for his senior season, but remained in South Florida with his family to mull over his options. He did not attend Sunday's celebration.
He is said to be "terribly torn" over the decision, and because there are so many linebackers in the 2009 draft class, he is projected by some draft experts as a second-round pick.
Both players are enrolled in spring classes.
QB Tim Tebow announced on Sunday he will return for his senior season, and Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford announced on Wednesday he will return for his redshirt junior year - which means the last two Hesiman winners will return next year.
