Decision on Tebow's return will rest with top-notch experts, Meyer says
As Florida quarterback Tim Tebow continues to recover from the concussion he sustained nearly a week ago, UF coach Urban Meyer said the decision on when it's safe for the senior to return will be made by some of the nation's best doctors and top experts in the field.
Meyer said the Florida medical staff has been in consultation with other experts on both the discussion about concussions as well as the various illnesses that ran rampant through the team the past three weeks.
"I tell you the thing that’s amazing around here is we have the best of the best of everything,'' Meyer said, "It really is. Absolutely, Tim is going to get the best of the best. But Moses Jenkins has a concussion as well. . . Even with the whole flu thing, we had the best of the best. We had disease experts coming in and talking about cleaning the facility up and hygiene for the players, everything.''
Meyer was quick to point out that all Florida players receive excellent medical care, and the extra precaution is not simply just because it's Tebow.
"It was evident in the reaction at the game (from medical staff),'' he said."Moses Jenkins is getting the exact same treatment Tim Tebow is. And any player that would get dinged would. Now obviously, it’s Tim. But one thing about Florida, it’s top shelf.''
The Florida medical staff released the following statement on Thursday night: “Tim continues to rest and recover. He also undergoes daily testing and we continue to monitor the resolution of his symptoms.”
The Gators are off this weekend, and will not practice again until Monday.
