Desipite youth, Gators believe defense can be solid unit

Experience is at a premium on the Gator defense, but Florida won't allow that to be an excuse for subpar play this season.

Florida defensive coordinator Dan Quinn said that while dealing with players who don't have a ton of game experience has left many question marks entering Saturday's game against FAU, he believes the way they've embraced the new defense is a positive indication they'll be ready on Saturday.

"The cool part about these guys, they're eager, they'll willing to learn,'' Quinn said. "They want information, they want to talk technique, they want to watch the film and that part has been really fun. You can feel the energy of these young guys, they are so anxious to get started and get playing. Now that game week is here they even sense a heightened intensity.''

LB Jon Bostic is among Florida's veterans, having played in 25 including all 13 last season.
