Ex-Gator Chris Richard signs with NBA's Bulls
Forward Chris Richard, who played on Florida's back-to-back national championship basketball teams, has signed a 10-day contract with the Chicago Bulls. Richard joins former Gator teammate Joakim Noah on the Bulls.
Richard, who was Mr. Florida in basketball in 2002 out of Lakeland Kathleen, played in six preseason games with Chicago before getting waived. He then averaged 10.1 points and 8.6 rebounds in nine appearances with the Tulsa 66ers of the NBA Development League. Richard, 25, was expected to be in uniform Friday when the Bulls visited Atlanta and former Gator Al Horford.
A 2007 second-round draft pick by Minnesota, Richard averaged 1.9 points and 2.6 rebounds in 52 games for the Timberwolves. He joins Noah, Horford, Matt Bonner (Spurs), Corey Brewer (Timberwolves), Udonis Haslem (Heat), David Lee (Knicks), Mike Miller (Wizards), Marreese Speights (76ers) and Jason Williams (Magic) as current Gators in the NBA.
