Florida baseball team wins first SEC championship since 2005

With a 5-2 victory over South Carolina Friday night, the Florida baseball team clinched its first SEC Championship since 2005.

It is Florida's 11th SEC regular season title in school history. With the victory, the Gators (40-12, 22-7 SEC) secured the No. 1 seed in next week's SEC tournament, which begins Wednesday in Hoover, Ala.

The Gators have won seven SEC titles in 2009-10, which leads the SEC: baseball, women's cross country, gymnastics, soccer, women's tennis, women's indoor track and field, men's outdoor track and field.
