Florida basketball team may get much-needed addition at point guard
Florida is awaiting word from the NCAA Clearinghouse on the status of Nimrod Tishman, a 6-foot-6 point guard from Israel whom UF coach Billy Donovan hopes to add to his depleted roster.
Tishman's amateur status is under review, and if cleared in time, Tishman would be able to start school on Aug. 24.
Associate head coach Larry Shyatt spent time in France last month recruiting Tishman, who averaged 18 points per game in the Under-18 European Championships.
With the loss of former UF guard Nick Calathes, who left school early to play in Europe, the Gators are in need of another player at the position. Currently, 5-foot-8 Erving Walker is the lone scholarship guard on the roster.
