Florida quarterback Tim Tebow enters the season with 110 touchdowns (67 passing, 43 rushing), while the defense is anchored by Chevrolet Defensive Player of the Year Brandon Spikes.
ABOUT THE BUCCANEERS: Charleston Southern is looking for its first win against a Division I opponent; the Buccaneers are 0-16 all time in those games. The Buccaneers return their top three rushers from 2008, including sophomore Antwan Ivey, a native of Newberry (just outside of Gainesville) who led CSU with 380 rushing yards as a freshman last season. Seven of their top eight receivers and four starting offensive linemen also return. The defense will feature a ton of newcomers, as only three of CSU's top ten tacklers return. Sixteen of Charleston Southern's first-line players are new to the starting lineup, although several saw significant playing time last season. For the third straight season, a new starting quarterback will be in CSU's lineup: A.J. Toscano is a junior college transfer from Cerritos (Calif.) College.
The Gators will try to extend their SEC-best opening-game winning streak to 20.
