Florida coaches okay wth way schedule plays out this season

While some SEC schools are still completing their conference schedule, Florida is spending the final two weeks of its home season facing two non-conference teams.

Saturday's home finale against Jacksonville State is the kind of game that ordinarily would be placed on the early part of the schedule, but offensive coordinator Brent Pease said it's not necessariy a bad thing.

“I look at a lot of other teams and they always play a lot of those early,'' Pease said. "But I don’t think so (want it differently). I think looking at how it is and how we’ve played it, it’s been good for us. Usually toward the end of the season you’re getting a little bit more banged up. I think it’s probably given us a time to get some guys back, play some other guys. I think it’s worked out great right now.”

The Gators will conclude the regular season with a Nov. 24 game at Florida State.

Florida coach Will Muschamp said when a team falls on the schedule is irrelevant. Ultimiately, you just have to go play.

“However they set it up is fine with me, we'll go play ‘em,'' Muschamp said. "It doesn’t matter when you play them or where you play them in our league. It’s going to be tough, regardless of the situation. It is what it is. No matter when you play them, you’ve got to win them. That’s the way I look at it, regardless of where they are.”
