Florida defensive coordinator Dan Quinn believes defensive staff will return intact
Despite the loss of offensive coordinator Charlie Weis and strength and conditioning coach Mickey Marotti, Florida defensive coordinator Dan Quinn seems confident the defensive staff will be around next season.
Quinn acknowledged Wednesday the difficulty for Gator players in undergoing so many changes during the past year - including a new coaching staff and new system - and that continuity is crucial at this point. Asked if he felt confident the entire defensive staff would return for 2012, Quinn said he believes so.
"I certainly feel that way,'' he said. "That would be a really cool thing (to have same coaches). And I can relate back to being a player
on a new coaching staff, even if it's only one or two people, that's where we've all got to fit in. And so many returning players coming back along with the staff, I think that's a big thing.''
Several players said on Tuesday that the constant changing over the past several years has taken a toll on some players, and may have hampered progress in various positions.
"It’s difficult because I know I’ve had three different coaches all of my three years here, so that’s been difficult trying to learn every system,'' safety Josh Evans said.
