Florida defensive coordinator Teryl Austin admitted to local hospital
Florida defensive coordinator Teryl Austin has been admitted to Tampa General Hospital after suffering from abdominal pains.
Austin, 45, is currently undergoing a battery of tests and is expected to continue to be evaluated throughout the evening.
Austin is in his first season with the Gators. He joined the staff after spending two seasons as the defensive backs coach with the Arizona Cardinals, but his coaching career spans 19 years.
Since the announcement of Urban Meyer's resignation, Austin's named has been linked to the vacant defensive coordinator's position at Texas, but he is in Tampa this week with the rest of the Gators' staff preparing for Saturday's Outback Bowl against Penn State.
No further details of his condition were released.
