Florida to face South Carolina in another SEC East test tonight



Fresh off victories over two ranked opponents last week, the No. 17 Florida men's basketball team will try to avenge an earlier season loss to South Carolina with a game in Columbia tonight.

Florida will be trying to earn its first win in Columbia since 2008.

If history is any indication, expect tonight's game to be a close one. South Carolina won on a buzzer beater in 2009, and the Gators pircket up a last-second win of their own in 2010. Eleven of the last 13 games between the two schools have been decided by six points or less.

Florida is in first place in the SEC East with two East opponents - the Gamecocks and Tennessee - on the schedule this week.

But after wins over Vanderbilt and Kentucky last week, Florida coach Billy Donovan said he's most interested in seeing how his team handles the prosperity that comes with such big wins.

As for where the Gators are as a team at this juncture in the season, here is Donovan's assessment:
