Florida forward Erik Murphy to undergo further evaluation to determine severity of rib injury
Florida senior F Erik Murphy will have X-rays taken to try and determine whether his rib injury is more severe than initially diagnosed, Florida coach Billy Donovan said.
Murphy injured his ribs in practice prior to Sunday's game at Yale, and did not play in the game. Donovan said today Murphy is in pain and has had trouble sleeeping so he'll be further evaluated to see if the ribs are broken.
Donovan said Murphy's ability to play will most likely be determined by how much pain he can tolerate, whether the ribs are broken or just bruised.
The Gators, who moved up two spots to No. 11 in this week's AP poll, will open SEC play Wednesday night at the O'Connell Center against Georgia.
