Florida freshman Andre Debose will have surgery, miss entire season
The hamstring injury that has hampered freshman WR Andre Debose for the past several months will have to be surgically repaired, UF coach Urban Meyer said following Tuesday's practice.
Debose, a star recruit from Sanford Seminole, will not play this season.
"It looks like the decision’s been made, he’s going to have surgery,'' Meyer said. "They haven’t given me a date yet. It’s a tendon where the muscle is detached from the bone that they are going to attach. It’s a significant time period. He won’t play this season.''
For the past week, Debose and his parents, along with UF team doctors and trainers, have been studying his options and working with other doctors who are more familiar with the injury. Asked how he took the news, Meyer said: "tough".
"He wanted to really play, but that's where he has the support of a great mom and dad,'' Meyer said. "Really, he's crushed. But he also understands that this is a marathon, not a sprint. So he's going to get fixed.''
