21

September

Florida kicker Caleb Sturgis is one of thirty Division I student-athletes (five SEC) named as a candidate for the Senior CLASS (Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School) Award.

The award encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I FBS senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.

Sturgis leads the Gators in scoring with 30 points and is 7-for-8 in field goals and a perfect 6-for-6 on PAT's. He connected on two 51-yard field goals in the first two games of the season and has made seven field goals of 50-yards or more in his career, which is the most in UF history. For his career, Sturgis is 53-for-68 on field-goal attempts and 105-for-110 on point after attempts. His 53 made field goals is second all-time at Florida and is 14 shy of the record.

A fifth-year senior, Sturgis received his bachelor's degree in sport management in December 2011 with a 3.32 GPA. He is currently enrolled in the Masters of Management program at UF where he has a 3.84 GPA and is on track to graduate in December. He has also been named the SEC Academic Honor Roll three times.
