Florida Gators softball team hoping California tournament will benefit in many ways
As the Florida softball team prepared for this weekend's Cathedral City Classic in Palm Springs, Calif., head coach Tim Walton admitted he was a little nervous.
Not only is this tournament a homecoming for six Gator players who are natives of California, but it's also a chance to showcase the team in a place Walton considers fertile recruiting groud.
The No. 4 Gators opened Thursday with a 7-0 win over Indiana, then later earned an extra inning 6-5 victory over No. 11 Texas.
Today, Florida will play San Diego State, then later face No. 2 powerhouse UCLA.
