Florida Gators' tight end A.C. Leonard is transferring
Florida sophomore tight end A.C. Leonard has decided to transfer, Florida coach Will Muschamp said during SEC media days today.
Leonard has been under scrutiny for the past five months after he was arrested for domestic battery in February. He was suspended, then reinstated to the team and allowed to practice, but did not participate in spring drills. Muschamp said repeatedly over the spring and summer that his status would be determined based on meeting certain conditions he had set up for the Jacksonville native.
Muschamp said he and Leonard met on Tuesday and decided it would be best if he transfers. He said he does not know where Leonard intends to go.
"It was a very mutual decision,'' Muschamp said. "Sometimes it doesn't work out and he needs to move on.''
