Florida gets two on Butkus Award Watch List



Florida linebackers Jelani Jenkins and Jon Bostic have been named to the 2011 Butkus Award Watch list.

Bostic appeared in all 13 games as a sophomore last season, and tied for on the team with 57 tackles (36 solo and 21 assisted). He also had three interceptions.

Jenkins, a 2010 SEC All-Freshman team selection,  led all SEC freshmen last season with 78 tackles.

Sincce 1985, the Butkus Award is awarded has been given annually to the nation’s top linebacker. An independent Butkus Award Selection Committee, comprised of 51 experts including professional, college and high school scouts, and prominent sports journalists, will conduct the selection process. The winner will be announced on Dec. 8 at The Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPN.

Florida has never had a Butkus Award winner, but has had several finalists including Alonzo Johnson, Tim Paulk and Brandon Spikes.
