Florida pitcher Stacey Nelson, coach Tim Walton among 10 Gators honored by SEC

Staceynelson Florida senior softball pitcher Stacey Nelson was named SEC Pitcher of the Year, and coach Tim Walton was named SEC Coach of the Year, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.

It was the second straight season Nelson and Walton were recoginzed with their respective honors. Nelson (19-1) leads the SEC with a 0.41 ERA. Walton led the Gators to a 26-1 conference record for their second consecutive SEC regular-season title. UF is 53-2 in conference play in the past two years. 

Nelson and Walton are among10 Gators receiving a league-leading 15 SEC honors.

Nelson, sophomore second baseman Aja Pacubla and sophomore outfielder Kelsey Bruder all garnered first-team honors, while sophomore pitcher Stephanie Brombacher, senior first baseman Ali Gardiner, sophomore shortstop Megan Bush and junior  outfielder Francesca Enea were named to the second team.

Freshman outfielders Alicia Sisco and Michelle Moultrie earned Freshman All-SEC accolades.

Nelson, Gardiner, Paculba and Bruder were also named to the
SEC All-Defensive team.
