Florida pitcher Steven Rodriguez signs with the Los Angeles Dodgers
Former Florida pitcher Steven Rodriguez has signed a contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers and will forgo his final year of eligibility with the Gators. Rodriguez was selected in the second round at No. 82 overall. He becomes the eighth of the nine Gators from the 2012 squad that was drafted in June to sign professionally.
Rodriguez was a first-team All-SEC selection and the first Gator reliever to earn All-SEC accolades since Kevin Chapman in 2010. The left-hander had a 3-2 record in 34 appearances and led Florida’s pitchers with 81 strikeouts in 62 innings. Rodriguez had a 2.18 ERA, four saves and limited opponents to a .211 batting average.
