Florida QB Jeff Driskel will not play against Jacksonville State
Florida coach Will Muschamp said today QB Jeff Driskel definitely won't play on Saturday in the Gators' home-finale against Jacksonville State. Driskel, who suffered a sprained ankle in last week's game against Louisiana-Lafayette, was listed as questionable earlier this week.
"Jeff Driskel is out and Jacoby Brissett will start and play well," Muschamp said. "I"ve got a lot of confidence in Jacoby and it's his opportunity and I'm looking forward to seeing him play."
Muschamp said he expects Driskel to be able to play next week when the Gators' close the regular season at Florida State, but he's not certain of that at this time.
"We're just working through this week, and it's day-to-day whenever you deal with an ankle,'' Muschamp said. "You know, it's a day-to-day process. It's a situation that continues to improve. How much it will improve into next week? I have no idea at this time. We feel like he'll be available, but who knows?”
Driskel is among a long list of Gators who will miss Saturday's game with injuries
"Andre Debose will be out," Muschamp said. "Neiron Ball will be out, Pop Saunders will be out, Valdez showers will be questionable, has a shoulder, and I’m not sure, we’ll try to get him some turns today and possibly Thursday. Ian Silberman has a shoulder, he’s questionable. Expect Xavier Nixon and Jimmy Wilson is probable for the game.”
